Hey there, I’m Silje

I’m just an ordinary girl from Norway who happens to be quite obsessed with handstands. And I want to use my obsession and passion to inspire and help other people succeed in their own practice as well.

It’s a slow process, but quitting won’t speed it up.

My background is in gymnastics, which I think gave me a huge advantage going into handbalance. I have a Bachelor degree in Health- & Social Psychology (University of Oslo) and I’m a certified personal trainer (Norwegian School of Sport Sciences in Oslo). I’ve been working as a Personal Trainer since early 2017.

I’ve been very active my whole life. I did elite gymnastics for 10 years and was a member of the Norwegian National Team where I represented Norway in various international competitions. I ended my gymnastics career in 2013 and started focusing on strength training, which I enjoyed, but I was slowly losing interest and felt like something was missing in my training. In 2018 I was introduced to the practice of handbalance for the first time and I immediately fell in love with it and I felt like I was finally in my right element again.

I have experienced the value of coaching first hand and I know how extremely beneficial it is in all stages of the handstand journey. As your coach I will make sure to guide and help you in the right direction towards your handstand goals. I will not tell you what you want to hear but rather what you need to hear to continue to evolve and progress your practise. YOU need to put in the work but I will be there with you, making sure that you do it the right way.

What I love about handbalance is how it challenges me both physically and mentally. It’s not just about getting stronger and more efficient in your work but also keeping your focus and mind straight in the process. I love how it makes the world kind of “go away”. When I’m on my hands nothing else matters. It’s just me, my body and the balance and shapes I’m creating. I like how it’s a never-ending process. That there is always something to work on, whether it be unlocking new skills or perfecting old ones. I love how there is no short cuts in this discipline. Nothing will come for free. It’s all about hard work, dedication and discipline.

The moment you are ready to quit is usually the moment right before a miracle happens. Do not give up.
